Areas Of Practice

Joseph J. Koltun is a litigation associate with Craig and Macauley Professional Corporation. He has a broad range of experience representing clients in complex civil litigation, including mediation and arbitration and trial and appellate practice in the state and federal court systems. Mr. Koltun has also represented clients before government agencies in Massachusetts and New York. His primary area of practice is commercial litigation, including litigation involving collections, fraud related to Ponzi schemes, contractual disputes related to commercial leases, securities laws, patent law, and consumer fraud. Mr. Koltun also represents both debtors and creditors before various United States Bankruptcy Courts.  

Mr. Koltun's recent accomplishments include the following:

• Successfully defended a law firm through trial from claims of negligence, fraud, and aiding and abetting fraud;
• Obtained a multi million dollar judgment against an individual operating a Ponzi scheme;
• Successfully drafted and argued a motion for summary judgment in patent infringement case through appeal before the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals;
• Litigated and settled numerous cases involving collections of delinquent accounts;
• Authored article – Sharing the Pain: "Equity is Equality" "Clawbacks" and Other Means to Impose Ratable Distribution - discussing the Bernard Madoff Ponzi scheme and the tools utilized by Trustees to recover funds in such schemes.

Before joining Craig and Macauley, Mr. Koltun practiced law in New York City for five years.
