Areas of Practice

Richard Quinby is a shareholder of Craig and Macauley Professional Corporation, where he represents clients in all areas of litigation, trials, and complex insurance and commercial disputes.  His practice has included the representation of both defendants and plaintiffs in a wide variety of cases including: general commercial and business litigation, negligence and personal injury, labor and employment, products liability, malpractice and other professional liability (including attorneys, insurance and real estate brokers’ and agents’ errors and omissions), fidelity and surety, domestic relations and disputes regarding insurance coverage.  Before entering private practice, he was a prosecuting attorney for Franklin County in Columbus, Ohio.

Representative Matters and Work for Clients

Mr. Quinby tries cases in state and federal courts in numerous states and jurisdictions and represents clients in arbitrations, mediations and administrative agencies. 

Mr. Quinby represents large corporations as well as small closely held businesses and individuals.  His clients include national retailers, financial institutions, insurance companies, insurance and real estate brokerage firms, individuals and professionals.  He has conducted well over four hundred trials.

Awards and Professional Activities

Mr. Quinby has been recognized repeatedly as a “SuperLawyer” by LAW AND POLITICS and BOSTON MAGAZINE. 

He has served as a mediator and arbitrator on numerous disputes.  He has also conducted seminars on a number of legal topics and authored the chapter on “Insurance Brokers, Agents and Advisors” in Massachusetts Liability Insurance Manual, a comprehensive and practical treatise on liability insurance published in 2000 by Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Inc. (and thereafter updated).  He is also a member of the Boston, Massachusetts and American Bar Associations.

Mr. Quinby received his B.A. from Wittenberg University (cum laude) (1976) and his J.D. from Case Western Reserve University (1979) where he earned trial practice honors.
