Environmental Law

The firm represents clients in matters involving all aspects of environmental law and related litigation.  Our work has included permitting and land use, toxic tort and environmental litigation, the defense of federal and state enforcement actions in connection with air, water, and waste programs, wetlands protection, and insurance coverage for environmental claims.

We have represented plaintiffs seeking remediation costs and damages for loss of property values arising from environmental contamination, and have defended clients against whom the government has sought cost recovery.  We have also worked with a variety of clients, including both banks and developers, concerning regulatory requirements for responding to contamination under both the Massachusetts Contingency Plan and CERCLA, its federal counterpart.

The firm has used its expertise in both lending and debtor-creditor relations to enhance its environmental practice.  We have frequently guided clients through the complex inter-play between lending and environmental liabilities and regulations.
